Awesome Ideas from Autism Home Support
We’re loving these adorable and affordable ideas for at-home fun, games and sensory activities from Autism Home Support.
Try Textures
Spread some shaving cream on the table and use your fingers to make shapes, draw letters, write words, etc. You can also add food coloring for some more fun and experiment with mixing colors too.
The adult makes some spaghetti and after it cools, the whole family can put their hands in it for some tactile fun. Add food coloring to create different color noodles. Use the spaghetti to create letters, numbers, words, pictures, etc. You can also hide small items/toys in the spaghetti and see who can find the most items in the shortest time.
Get Moving
Have a family dance party! Turn on some favorite tunes and dance around. You can also incorporate freeze dance by stopping when the music stops. Some kids also enjoy looking at lights. You can jazz up the dance party by incorporating a disco ball lamp that projects different color lights.
Set up an obstacle course. Use items found around your home. For example, put some painters tape on the floor to act as a balance beam, have a pile of pillows to jump on, use a comforter to crawl across.
Set up a treasure hunt throughout the house. You can also set up a treasure hunt in the dark and use a flashlight to search for the items.
Water Play
Have a water balloon toss. If it’s a bit too cold outside, move the water balloons to the bathroom and set up a target in the bathtub. Trust us, everyone will love it!
