A Passover Message from Alan
Passover has always been one of my favorite Jewish holidays. I love that the holiday is celebrated in the home and that it’s all about telling a story— a story that continues to define us a Jewish people.
Telling the story of Passover is an important part of our religion and our culture. It’s our chance to re-connect with history, to remember, to ask questions and to be inspired to take action in our lives today. The Passover story is about freedom, never to be taken for granted, and the impetus to think about all humanity unable to live or learn freely.
Participating in a Seder is actually one of the most common practices for Jews. The holiday allows all of us to define our personal Jewish identity and to tell the story through our own unique lens. Passover is indeed the intersection of Jewish and Secular life.
No matter how or where you celebrate the holiday this year, I hope it’s filled with meaning, friendship and peace.
From our JCC Chicago family to yours, Happy Passover!
