x-plore cabinet Spark your imagination and explore with our new X-PLORE Station at Florence G. Heller JCC. JCC Chicago is teaming up with X-Time, a project created for children in K-5th grade to discover new topics and deepen their interests.

Join us for special monthly events that explore STEAM (Science, Tech, Engineering, Arts & Math) and enjoy fun activities inside the station like coloring pages, board games, puzzles, play-doh, and more.

Upcoming Events

X-Time was founded in Summer 2020 by Sophia Libman, a student at Academy H.S. in Champaign-Urbana, near the University of Illinois. Sophia was looking for ways to provide fun, educational opportunities for children in her community during the pandemic. What began with a few online classes, now has expanded to include summer camps and X-PLORE Stations with in-person, hands-on activities across Illinois. You can find an X-PLORE station at the Martens Center in Champaign, Illinois, Anne & Roberts H. Lurie’s Children Hospital of Chicago and now at Florence G. Heller JCC in Lakeview.

Sophia was passionate about bringing her project to the JCC Chicago community after being a 2022 JCC Chicago Seed613 fellow. Sophia is eager to bring the X-PLORE Station to Florence G. Heller JCC and help children discover new topics and develop interests in STEAM.
