Tzedakah on Earth Day
This year on Earth Day, make an effort to donate to one of these great organizations. They’re not only helping Chicago families in need, but they’re helping our planet by giving unwanted items a second home.
Share Our Spare…
provides Chicago families living in low-income and homeless situations with the essentials they need to thrive. They collect new and gently-used baby and children’s items – everything from diapers to strollers.
EZRA…
the Hebrew word for Help, is committed to repairing the world and offers help to anyone in need. In addition to running the JUF UPTOWN CAFÉ,
Chicago’s first kosher anti-hunger program that feeds dinner with a volunteer wait-staff, EZRA accepts items for their food pantry and hygiene closet.
The ARK’s…
Thrift Shop provides food, medicine and more basic necessities to local Jewish families in need. For those Chicagoans doing a spring cleaning, The ARK is in need of spring and summer clothes, shoes and outerwear for both adult and children.
The Chicago Chesed Fund…
provides hundreds of families a year with clothing, furniture, baby equipment and more, so they can live a little better – and maintain their self-respect. They are dedicated to addressing the specific cultural needs of the Chicago Jewish community. They accept goods for their 44,000 warehouse – anything from cars and kosher foods to maternity clothes and sports equipment – in usable condition.
